Classic white works well for level trim as well as other elaborate injection molding styles. It’s great, with white walls or colored walls, so it really is the ultimate no-fail option, which is probably partly why it’s such a popular choice.
It can be an excellent way to tie together different types of molding together, and it will not fight historical details like stained glass, so everything will be matched.

White trim is also great for toning down a strong color that is thieving through the surface away from the walls. This purple shade is actually very greasy, but it does not feel like it swallows the room, coupled with deep crown molding and window trim in white.
Hanson beautiful building
Paired with a neutral wall color, white trim highlights the surrounding undertones so the walls do not look so colorless while still bringing in a light modern touch. It is also a good choice in a room with lots of wood, because it keeps the look contemporary rather than rustic.

- You want to emphasize that the subtle undertone is neutral walls
- You want to break down fat walls with a breath of fresh air
- You have simple moldings that you do not want to mark.
- They just want to pay attention to the dramatic decor
- You are not sure which color to choose. It’s hard to go wrong with white trim!
If the trim is dressed in a medium neutral hue, it immediately gives some sophisticated, worn appeal. The trim will be a feature that’s for sure, but in a subtle way.

Although the look is more traditional, you can use more modern furniture, add warmth and character. This kitchen has sleek cabinets and modern appliances, but still feels homey rather than state-of-the-art. That’s in large part because of the warm gray trim.
Neutral trim works especially well with a colored blanket, so you should use the same color overhead in a room where you have an intimate feel, such as a living room or dining area.
Optimizing the design
- They love a transitional look (one that balances traditional and modern elements)
- You want to feel an authentic heritage in an older house
- You want to mark doors or windows for an architectural look without touching you, fresh white walls
Fat, colorful trim can either be part of a wild, eclectic look or actually a very livable element in a quieter home. Because cutting usually has a relatively small area, paint a fun hue like lemon, pink or sky blue adds a pop of color (and certain personality) without adding as much drama as a full-wall treatment.
Pastel trim does not make you feel nervous, but, as in this case, it creates a romantic feeling that suits a modest cottage style or dreamy bedroom.

Cutting wood can be anything from rustic to modern, depending on the tone and the surface of the wood. Either way, it adds a deeper sense of texture that will make a room feel inviting, even without much else in the way of decorative elements.

Wood trim is often dyed to match the floor, but it may vary in tone a bit and still coordinate beautifully, as forest naturally mix and match. Just do not mix more than three wood shades if you would like to stay away from rustic territory.

A bit of wood trim on a window is great for warming up a room that is otherwise cold as a white kitchen or in the bathroom (especially if you do not want to add windows, curtains). Choose a deep stain on suit to a contemporary space, and let other trim white.

Wood is also great, with wall colors that already add warmth, like a soft pink. Both have a red undertone, so the lack of contrast leaves both elements, feeling like they fit in peacefully.

Black trim is definitely statement, but it’s timeless, so different from other bold colors that you do not have to worry about making that dramatic choice grow fast.
More still than white trim, black bezel frames any door or window, like a picture, for instant high-fashion appeal.

Black trim is in its classic and liveable, when paired with simple finishes like a wooden floor and bright walls. It will stand up against other items for attention, so you might as well let it be the star.
blatantly How black can be, it does not have to be all or nothing. Simply paint your lower trim black (skirting boards and doorframes), using the white crown molding , anchor, hovering the space while letting the ceiling float for a breezy allure.
Alternatively, just paint the crown-molding black pictures of the ceiling, highlighting details like beautiful lighting, medallions and other features. This tactic works well with dark wooden doors, both have a deep richness, making the doors less balanced to keep the look balanced rather than state-of-the-art.

The treatment of trim with a light gloss finish is a great way to subtly highlight beautiful molded parts while at the same time leaving a clean palette for effortless-looking designer appeal. I often use a uniform color for the walls, ceiling and trim, with a matte finish for walls and a satin finish, trim so that a touch of light bounces off the trim curves that unconsciously catch your eye.

Trim is often more likely to be touched or leaned on than the walls themselves, so having an easy-to-clean paint job is also convenient.
